Company Conferences

Hire the luxury 1930 super saloon carriages, originally used on ocean liner special trains, or special saloon car 9002, for your meeting or private function for up to 60 people. Our Refreshment Room can be used for larger groups.


Company Corporate Day

Why not hire the Railway Centre for the day for your company. Steam an engine for footplate rides, including a behind the scenes guided tour giving an opportunity to see the many restoration projects that are underway.


Business Breakfast

An early morning start with 5 course traditional English breakfast amid the nostalgia of the 1930s served in our Refreshment Room, followed by a guest speaker or tour of the Railway Centre.


Railway Experience Days and VIP Special Days

Drive and fire a steam locomotive, be a guard of the train for a full day including a year’s membership of the Great Western Society. Gift for employees or group bookings with discounts available. Railway Experience Days

A chance of a lifetime to realise a childhood ambition and drive a steam engine. Ideal for a birthday treat, a special anniversary, corporate hospitality or pure self indulgence.


Relive the golden age of the Great Western Railway at Didcot Railway Centre where the original GWR engine shed is home to a fine collection of lovingly restored locomotives, looked after by the members of the Great Western Society.


The Day consists of:



  • Introduction and safety talk

  • Guided tour of the Centre, including the workshops and signalboxes, with an experienced guide

  • 2.5 hours with the steam train, driving and firing the locomotive and being guard of the train

  • Two course lunch in the restaurant

  • Gift pack of information about Didcot Railway Centre and a year's membership of the Great Western Society

  • Group Photograph of your visit


The day commences at 8am with coffee and breakfast rolls and concludes at 4pm with the presentation of a Certificate of your day's experience.


Day Out with Thomas

Thomas is a regular visitor to Didcot Railway Centre where he is welcomed by his friends the Great Western engines.


The Fat Controller supervises Rev.W.Awdry's classic children's favourite - Thomas the Tank Engine on his “Day Out with Thomas™” visits.


There are rides behind ‘Thomas’ and lots of other entertainment for children including magic shows, Punch & Judy shows, circus workshops, balloon model makers, colouring competitions and ‘spot the character’ competitions.


A wide range of souvenirs is available in the ‘Thomas’ shop.


There is a Refreshment Room serving lunches, snacks and drinks also a picnic area where you can sit and watch the trains go by.
