Tai Chi is recognised as wonderful soft exercise and calming meditative movement – in the delightful and classical tree populated environment of the Swiss Garden these exercises connect with traditional Chinese ideas about the natural development of Chi, leading to a quietly energised state of relaxation. Tai Chi originated in the early 1600s – synthesised by the Chen family from ages old precursors of health and wellbeing combined with exercises from martial arts.

It is excellent for people of all ages promoting as it does good posture, good balance and good health for all, while providing a pathway to more dynamic exercise if that is your interest. Ian is a 21st generation teacher of the Chen style Tai Chi lineage, who has studied in the UK and China – his classes at Shuttleworth are suited to beginners with no experience at all and to those who may wish to return to their study of Tai Chi – or simply to experience a different approach.

Please wear comfortable loose clothing and bring drinking water with you if possible.
