Truly an evening of legends!
Sandra Kerr & John Faulkner, co-writers of the music and songs of the much loved Bagpuss films, once again (some decades later) combine their instrumental, vocal and writing skills, to present an evening of music, including traditional songs and tunes & self-penned material (some of a distinctly political nature).
Both have long and distinguished careers in folk music, mentored as they were by Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger in the Critics Group in the 60s and 70s. In the years since, John has worked with the best in Irish traditional music, and has appeared on over fifteen albums (four of which he either produced or co-produced), having huge success with his song about Nelson Mandela 'Lion in a Cage' while working with De Danaan. Sandra (an EFDSS gold badge holder) has become acclaimed for her work with Sisters Unlimited, as a feminist song-writer of note, as a vocal trainer and folk choir director, and for her work with young musicians as a lecturer on the Newcastle Folk Degree.
This will be a concert to delight all generations of folk music lovers.
