Five actors, with all manner of musical instruments, present an inventive take on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing - a rip-roaring comedy of quarrels, deceptions and a frustratingly stupid man called Dogberry.

The Three Inch Fools are an innovative touring theatre company acclaimed for their fast-paced and musically driven approach to Shakespeare. They’ve built a reputation for staging bold and vibrant productions – using all sorts of different instruments, plenty of multi-roling and many a quick costume change along the way. For each production, they create a completely original musical soundtrack, collaborating with rising star composer Stephen Hyde. The soundtrack moves between folk music and world music to classical, rock, pop and opera – and everywhere in between!

The group specialises in bringing Shakespeare to life in unexpected ways, through bold story-telling and innovative sound worlds. This imaginative style is certain to delight and surprise those already familiar with the play, and to call out to those who have yet to discover it. This year The Fools are looking forward to an incredible summer on the road, performing both outdoors and indoors at over 100 different venues across the UK – indeed any place where five actors and an audience can fit!

Voices from the audience:

"I took my daughter to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream, her first Shakespeare, at age 8. I could not have wished for a more entertaining performance. She took a bag full of toys in case she got bored, but she never even touched them! Could there be a higher accolade?!"

"Thank you for helping me convince my son that Shakespeare is cool!"

"A unique take on Shakespeare! The energy, versatility and talent of this group make seeing their productions a must."

"Twelfth Night at Coggeshall Barn provided an evening of slick hilarity full of constant surprises with minimal set and props. Go and see them. You will be entertained and amazed!"

"Superb! Our grandsons are still talking about it a week later!"
