Have you ever rung a bell in a belfry? Give it a try with the help of an enthusiastic bunch of men and women who share a real passion for the English art of bell-ringing.

?They meet once a month in the belfry of Giles' Church in Camberwell to practice change ringing, the ancient skill of ringing a set of tuned tower bells in an intricate series of changes.

Climb the tower with them to get to know about the philosophy of this art, hear why it is so special, where it originates and encounter the histories of those exercising it today.

Before this delightful musical experience, a pleasant walk takes you through the historical and artistic heritage of Camberwell, unveils the biographies of the Londoners who made its past and gives you a glimpse into the contemporary life of its streets.

Camberwell Grove in particular, one of the best preserved Georgian streets in London, tells the visitor about merchants, bankers and poets such John Lettsom, one of the great philanthropists of his time, the writer and activist Una Marson and John Ruskin, the most prominent art critic of the Victorian era.
