The First World War was a monumental human catastrophe. It also transformed the shape of Europe immediately, and in the long run the shape of the world with the eventual disintegration of the colonial empires that had dominated the previous century.
This unique FREE exhibition in the centre of London is displaying a selection of large prints on canvas from the wonderful book “The Unknown Fallen” covering images and stories about the Global allied Muslim contribution, but they could as well be from their adversaries.
Having the “Untold Friendships in the Great War” in a beautiful Turkish venue as the Yunus Emre Institute in Central London is a real blessing and in the meantime “thought provoking” to say the least. Indeed, being welcomed with our exhibition & narrative by descendants of the Ottoman Empire, in a time of daily tweets filled with hate and intolerance, is a mostly needed breath of fresh air.
Besides the jaw dropping photos highlighting humanity at the battlefront, it also challenges the visitor about the ignorance and prejudice in the world of today.
