One of the best young climbers in the world, Hazel Findlay presents a talk about her life and climbs to explore how we can use a sport such as climbing – something that we are passionate about - to put us in hard places that push us beyond what we thought we were capable of; how in this struggle we can discover the way our minds work and how to ‘hack’ them, so that we can enjoy the experiences we want and not be limited by fear
Hazel Findlay has been climbing for 21 of her 29 years, and started out trad climbing on the limestone sea cliffs of Pembrokeshire. She dabbled in competition climbing - becoming the British junior champion six times - but at 16 decided to give it up to focus on climbing on rock, especially trad climbing which is her main passion. Hazel was the first British woman to climb a trad route at E9, and free climb El Capitan in Yosemite, which she has now done four times. Hazel has also red pointed 8c and on-sighted many 8as, loves all types of climbing from bouldering to alpine climbing and is especially interested in the mental challenge that climbing evokes.
