Helix Ensemble is returning to St Andrew's Church, Countesthorpe on Saturday 7th March with dynamic Musical Director Adam Summerhayes who will play the first performance of his own violin concerto ‘A Fiddler’s Tale’.
We start the concert with Mozart’s Symphony No 40, possibly the most dramatic and well-loved of the famous three last symphonies of Mozart, before hearing the premiere of ‘A Fiddler’s Tale’, which is sure to include folk fiddling as well as some classical elements of a violin concerto. Adam is well-known for his virtuosic style.
The second half of the concert will start with a suite written by Sibelius in 1905 for the first production in Helsinki of the Belgian play ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’ and then we play the popular ‘Chacony’ by Purcell; baroque music which has retained its appeal over 300 years!
We finish with Bartok’s Rumanian Dances which bring back the folk and gypsy styles with haunting melodies from different instruments of the orchestra.
Tickets £12 for adults and free for accompanied children (under 16) - please apply to the email address: [email protected] or Telephone: 07954085009. A programme with your name on it will be your ticket. We are recommending that you buy your ticket in advance as it may be a full house!
