The ClementJames Centre will be joined by former civil servant Lord Kim Darroch in conversation with the FT’s George Parker. Lord Darroch, former British Ambassador to the United States, resigned his post last year after leaked cables revealed the diplomat’s criticisms of US President, Donald Trump.

Prior to his position in Washington, Lord Darroch spent several years as National Security Adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron, and in this role oversaw issues such as the rise of Daesh in Iraq and Syria, Russian aggression in Ukraine, and the collapse in government authority in Libya. He has also worked in senior roles on UK-EU policy and multilateral negotiations as Permanent Representative to the European Union and as EU Adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Earlier in his career, Lord Darroch worked in a wide range of positions and policy specialties. In 1997, he was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG), and as a Knight Commander (KCMG) in 2008. In 2019, he was made a life peer in the House of Lords.

Lord Darroch will be in conversation with the Financial Time’s Political Editor George Parker, who, having been in post since 2007, has covered the financial crash, the coalition government, Brexit, and now Covid-19. He is currently a presenter of Radio 4’s Week in Westminster and is a regular pundit on radio and television.

Join us for an engaging evening of talk and discussion covering Donald Trump, Brexit, diplomacy, and a forty-two year career in the British civil service.

All proceeds from this event will go to The ClementJames Centre, enabling us to continue our work releasing potential in the community.

The ClementJames Centre is an award-winning charity based that empowers the local community to release their potential and live fulfilled lives in one of London's most disadvantaged areas.
