Signet Contemporary Art is proud to present our upcoming exhibition ‘For The Ocean’ from the 17th to the 31st October 2020 in collaboration to support the Marine Conservation Society.

The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. In a time where human activity is proving detrimental to the state of our marine environment, we are at a pivotal point in how the future will pan out. Art has always been intrinsically linked to current world events, leading the commentary, and the portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to MCS.

The show will feature ten contemporary seascape artists who are inspired by the strength, power and beauty of the ocean. These include Erika Toliusis, Irina Cumberland, Leila Godden, Magdalena Morey, Jonathan Trim, Tom Barron, Jonathan Speed and Harry Brioche.

Each artist promises a refreshing outlook on the way we see our seas, be it Magdalena Morey’s ‘bold, vibrant palettes and regular use of gold leaf’ or Irina Cumberland’s calming work with fractal patterning to create a sense of tranquillity. Leila Godden’s pieces present a ‘vast panorama of changing light, dramatic weather and powerful water’ while Tom Barron’s work captures ‘a moment in time, to catch a wave, the weather or the reflected light and colour, or an atmospheric combination of all three.’ The artists feature assorted British and international locations in their work, inspired by the ever-changing world around them, with the result that no piece is the same, sharing only a love and appreciation for our oceans.

This exhibition guarantees striking water and seascapes and an incredible attention to detail in a variety of mediums by a group of emerging and well established contemporary artists. Prepare to experience the ocean with fresh eyes, enjoy some exquisite new artwork, and contribute to an extremely important cause this October at Signet Contemporary Art.
