Ensemble C is a newly-formed string quartet whose members have a rich and diverse chamber music background. They are a distinctive combination of three violas and a cello and chose their moniker to highlight the mellow C string which all instruments share, and to reflect their affinity with the coast.

The four players of Ensemble C are all inspired by the richness of the lower string sound and the huge range of repertoire in which this string combination flourishes: from early Renaissance pieces to 20th century works.
