Wine Tasting Evening Fundraiser

Fun-filled wine tasting evening with Duncan
Murray raising funds for the children’s wards outside play area.

Are you looking
for a fun night out and an opportunity to raise funds for a great cause at the
same time?  Then why not join
Northamptonshire Health Charity for their first Wine Tasting event on Friday 26
November at Harleston Village Institute.

The event is
being hosted by the flamboyant Duncan Murray of Duncan Murray Wines, Market
Harborough.  You will be tasting 8
quality wines with accompanying cheeses and all proceeds will go to the
charity’s fundraising appeal for the new outside play area between the
children’s wards at Northampton General Hospital.

Children
of all ages and abilities are treated on Disney and Paddington wards with some
young patients receiving chemotherapy and some children being treated in the
Paediatric Assessment Unit.  The new improved
space will be equipped to provide a range of outside play activities as well as
new options for physiotherapy.  It will
also have vastly improved accessibility for all children, which will enable
parents and carers with physical disabilities to take their children out to
play.  Play is
also vital in helping children to comprehend what is happening to them, which
in turn helps them cope with receiving treatment. 

Play
Service Co-ordinator Sue Faulkner explains, “Having
a bright, welcoming new play area will be fantastic!  It will be a
therapeutic outdoor space where all children and parents can spend time
outside, in all weathers. This space will help promote children’s health and
well-being during their stay within the hospital environment.”

The charity’s wine tasting event next month is going to be a
really fun way to raise some much-needed funds towards this fantastic project
