After a day of extreme indulgence Boxing Day is a chance to redeem oneself by getting outdoors and doing something fun and the William Hill Winter Festival at Kempton Park Racecourse on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th December is the perfect place to do this.

Boxing Day is a strong contender for Britain's National Day of Lethargy. For some, December 26th is usually a day of quiet meditation on the excesses of the previous afternoon a day when we enjoy, television repeats, a day of sporting action and discount shopping!† However Boxing Day is so much more than a collective snooze for those of us who get up and out and about. The best remedy by far for post-Christmas lassitude is to seize the day and get out and experience one of the best days in British horse racing.

In 2012 The William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton Park saw an exhilarating battle to the finish line between Nicky Henderson trained Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run and the Philip Hobbs trained Arkle winner Captain Chris where Long Run beat him to victory by a head on the line.† 2013ís instalment promises to be no less exciting with the Grade 1 Chase attracting some of the best staying chasers around in a bid to mark their place in this predominant race.†

Entertainment on the day includes music from an Irish folk band Naymedici who will perform on both days of the Winter Festival plus reindeer will be present to greet racegoers on Boxing Day, for racegoers to meet and pet them. There will also be a special guest appearance from Gary Witheford, aka, The Horse Whisperer.

Gary is one of the country's most popular and effective specialists in understanding horse psychology and behaviour and finding workable solutions for the benefit of both horses and their owners. He will demonstrate his world-renowned equine training techniques with his own Andalusian stallion, Brujo, plus Gary and his son, Craig will be breaking in a yearling on the day - this is a show you will not want to miss.

Ticket bookings can be made online at www.kempton.co.uk or by calling the box office on 0844 579 3008. Book paddock or premier tickets in advance to get a fantastic value cracker package including admission, a racecard, a drink, £10 William Hill Online Bet and discounted return visit voucher for January.†
