Are you interested in writing a picture book? Do people remark on how breathtaking your illustrations are? Does making up stories for your children come naturally? Then book your slot on this amazing workshop now and, who knows, you may end up seeing it in print!
Led by the amazing international bestselling author and illustrator David Litchfield, with the Director of his literary agency, Arabella Stein, and publisher Katie Cotton, (bios below), you will be taken through the process of how to develop a picture book: where ideas come from, creating characters children and parents will love, how to structure your story, learning how to develop your character arc, an introduction to artwork techniques, understanding today’s market and how to pitch your idea to an agent.
Arabella Stein from the Bright Agency will present a morning Q & A session regarding today’s picture book market and publisher Katie Cotton from Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and Wide Eyed Editions will cover the afternoon’s presentation with a focus on editing your book and how authors and editors work together.
As an added feature to this already amazing day, Arabella and Katie are offering eight 15 minute one-to-one sessions each, which can be booked in addition to your workshop place – one booking for one agent per attendee, so take your pick from two of the best in the industry! They would love to see your work in progress – a dummy OR text with character samples plus one piece of full colour artwork. They welcome portfolios too. Their advice is to focus on the idea you are most passionate about.
