MG Car Club at Silverstone Circuit
28 Mar 2020
All six of the MG Car Club’s race championships will be racing with us on the Silverstone International Circuit.
MG Trophy Championship – THE MG TROPHY is one of the UK’s best and most enjoyable single make club championships, offering high quality close racing for the front wheel drive MG ZR in 3 classes, and the MG3. In recent years the MG Trophy has produced a number of drivers who have gone on to higher levels of motorsport with ex Trophy driver Jack Goff competing in the BTCC having won the Clio Cup in 2012.
The MGCC Peter Best Insurance MG Cup – Established for over 20 years, the MGCC Peter Best Insurance MG Cup is the UK’s most popular MG racing series and is the only championship for which any MG model is eligible. The MGCC Peter Best Insurance MG Cup caters for any MG, ranging from post war T-Types through to sixties classic Midgets, MGBs and MGCs to more recent MGFs and Z series and current production models such as the MG6 GT. In 2017 the championship allowed the Rover Tomcat Turbo cars to enter.
BCV8 Championship – The MG Car Club’s long established BCV8 Championship is the premier series for MGB and MGC racing, offering classes for the fully modified V8s to road going cars. The MGBV8 has played a major part in the spectator value of the BCV8 series and the powerful full-house machines have raised the performance game. However, the V8 has not eclipsed the 1800 and modified MGB racing is as close and exciting as ever. Today the MGCC’s BCV8 Championship has some of the closest racing you could wish to see and is as popular as ever
Cockshoot Cup – The Cockshoot Cup Championship is a racing championship run by the North West Centre of the MG Car Club. It provides an opportunity for owners of MG sports and saloon cars to race their cars within easy travelling distance of the North West of England. However, the Championship always makes the trip down to Silverstone for MGLive! and the opportunity to race on the GP Circuit. The cars are split into four classes and cover everything from Midgets, MGBs to ZRs, MGFs and MGTFs.
Lackford Engineering Midget & Sprite Challenge – The Midget & Sprite Challenge is the only exclusively ‘Spridget’ race series in the UK. With the backing of the well known Classic Car restoration company, Lackford Engineering, it is THE home for racing MG Midgets and Austin Healey Sprites (built 1956-1979.
MGCC MG Metro Cup – The Championship is the MG Car Club’s one-make racing formula for all types of MG Metro. Started in 1992, the Championship has been successful in maintaining it’s objective of providing an easy way into motor racing for drivers with a limited budget. The series attracts a varied selection of drivers, from those who have competed for several seasons to absolute novices. The series has been sponsored by Drayton Manor theme park for over 25 years and we are proud of our association and the backing we receive.
Alongside the MG Championhips, we’ll have a number of guest championships racing with us over the weekend. We’ll be announcing these special guests soon!
