Jazz in the House: Deirdre Cartwright’s Picnic at Katherine Ives

Jazz, funk, reggae and South African influences blend in
Deirdre Cartwright’s Picnic, coming to Lauderdale House as part of the EFG
London Jazz Festival.

Award-winning guitarist and composer Deirdre Cartwright is
joined by trombone virtuoso Annie Whitehead, multi award-winning bassist and
composer Alison Rayner, and Winston Clifford, one of Britain’s leading jazz
drummers.

Picnic’s music reflects a love of jazz mixed with funk,
reggae and South African influences. Guitar and trombone blend in an exciting
front sound, underpinned by great grooves and inspiring melodic tunes.

Together, these four acclaimed musicians bring a wealth of
experience from across the UK jazz scene to Picnic’s distinctive sound for an
evening of expressive and life-affirming music.
