Music at Duffield Presents: Tim Kliphius (Jazz) Trio at St. Alkmund’s Church

Rhapsody in Blue 

The Tim Kliphuis Trio return to Duffield to celebrate 20 years on the road and present their new programme: RHAPSODY IN BLUE! George Gershwin’s famous masterpiece, just over 100 years old, is presented in a brand new, longer, Trio version that accentuates the rhythmic and improvisational nature of the piece and gives the timeless themes more space to breathe. 

The Rhapsody is accompanied by other Gershwin hits such as The Man I Love, Fascinating Rhythm, Ain’t Necessarily So; and Nigel Clark plays I Loves you Porgy from “Porgy and Bess” in a masterful solo guitar version. To close the night, the Trio’s most popular piece Hoedown For The Common Man, inspired by Gershwin’s contemporary Aaron Copland, refreshed and updated for the ‘now’.
