How did it all start?

A few years ago, Vaughan Jones was delighted to be asked to organise a quartet for his own sisters wedding and hand picked the very best musicians he could find for the big day. The couple had requested some contemporary pop songs during the reception and Vaughan was disappointed to find most of the available sheet music was either outdated or lacked sparkle.

By meticulously hand crafting the scores himself, he produced lively, original and downright funky arrangements of classic pop songs that delighted all the guests and made the whole event unique and personalised.

That day, the Manor House Music String Quartet was born and their aim is simple - to offer a refreshing alternative to the usual classical repertoire or 'light music selection', combined with an exceptional standard of musicianship.

About us

The various members have played with the countries top orchestras - including the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players and the English Chamber Orchestra. They have individually toured across the globe and appear in many classical and film soundtrack recordings.

Vaughan has played on tour across Europe and the USA and his CV includes performances with Elton John, Paul McCartney and duets with Nigel Kennedy in Canterbury Cathedral.

Vaughan can also be heard playing on the award winning "Lord of the Rings" soundtrack.

We provide a totally fresh approach to the traditional string quartet and have the flexibility to offer a unique combination of top classical artists, playing your choice of music, whether it's Bach or the Beach boys, Mozart ,Gershwin or Led Zeppelin.
