Spud the Piper plays Scottish Wedding Ceremony Music and Highland Bagpiper tunes at Weddings and Wedding Receptions. Bagpiper musical entertainment is available Internationally for traditional Castle or Scottish and Highland Theme Weddings.
Highland bagpiper Spud also known as Calum Fraser, from Aviemore in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Spud has played the bagpipes at weddings and other events throughout Scotland, the UK and throughout the world at Burns Suppers and St Andrew's day events.
Bagpiper Spud has played for Madonna, Ashley Judd, Jamie Lee Curtis and a host of other stars and he would be delighted to play for you on your special wedding day.
In the last 10 years Spud has performed at more than 500 weddings, mostly in Scotland but some in Holland, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Germany, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and several in the USA and he is always willing to travel anywhere in the world.
The majority of weddings are however in Scotland and the format is normally to pipe as guests arrive at the wedding venue and then play for the bride as she arrives. Often the bride is piped down the aisle. It is traditional to pipe as the happy couple walk back up the aisle then to play to guests as the photographs are taken both at the church and reception venue.
After the formal line up Spud will pipe the top table guests in to their seats then pipe the bride and groom to the cake, then once it has been ceremoniously cut, pipe them back to their seats. Then give the bride a Quaich (the cup of friendship) which she fills with whisky and I take a sip and give a good luck toast in gaelic. This routine of course can be altered as necessary.
Spud also has a range of highland dancers who perform regularly with him at wedding dances. It's a great idea when the band are having a break to entertain for 30 minutes or so with a range of unique highland dances.
