Built in the mid nineteenth century, the hotel was originally made up of three grand town houses. Not until the 1960’s did the hotel as we know it convert to become the impressive venue it is today. Still embracing the architectural delights of the period on the outside, the hotel remains one of the most imposing and wonderful buildings in Guildford.

Owned by the Christie family from it’s infancy until the late 1990’s, the hotel has continued to be a family run business. Purchased from the Christies in 1998 by the Hay family, the hotel has taken on several new and exciting dimensions. Refurbished, updated and expanded, by 2001 the hotel had now 72 en suite bedrooms, making it one of the largest independently owned hotels in Surrey.

Room Capacities The Mandolay Conference Centre has been designed in such a way as to be flexible enough to hold in excess of 500 delegates at any time. Soundproof walls between each room can be removed and refitted to provide numerous combinations of size and shape depending on the format of the event. Offering facilities such as independently operated contemporary lighting, an integral projection and audio system, air condition and a well dedicated team for support.

In February 2016 we were awarded a 2nd Rosette for Culinary Excellence for the dining experience in our Restaurant.
