Arts Award Explore 2024

Become an Arts Award explorer this summer!

As an explorer, your child will take part in arts and crafts and find out more about West Berkshire Museum and the Ancient Egyptians as they complete their Arts Award Explore. This programme is aimed at 7-12 years and is a combination of led workshops and a self-led project.

This is a small group activity and so places are limited (maximum of 6 children). To sign up and collect an introduction pack, please come to the museum reception, and pay £25 (per child). Packs available from 29 May.

The fee covers the cost of a logbook, craft materials (and craft pack), a place on one of the summer Messy Museum Days, external moderation (by Trinity College, London) and a certificate (subject to successful completion).

An Arts Award explorer is required to attend two led craft and activity workshops on Thursday 25 July and Thursday 29 August, to help to complete their logbook. At the led workshop on Thursday 29 August, they will also create their final artwork and a pop-up exhibition of their art and craft work over the summer.

Everything they do must be recorded in their logbook which, when complete, needs to be handed in at the museum reception; the deadline for this is Saturday 21 September.

When taking part in the two led workshops at the Museum, the explorer must be accompanied by an adult throughout.
