Our theatre company founder Laura will be presenting a talk on making mainstream theatre accessible for neurodivergent participants and audience members, from her own lived experiences, as part of Brixham Future CIC's wellbeing and health festival.
taking place as follows
September 18th, 1pm - 2pm
Brixham Yacht Club
Overgang Road,
Brixham, TQ5 8AR
While South Devon Players is not a “neurodivergent theatre company” Laura and a number of the theatre members are neurodivergent and this talk therefore comes from the lived experiences and work of a number of local theatre professionals who happen to be neurodivergent.
This talk will explore positive and constructive ways that those perceived as different, can have equal access and equal value , and that spaces can be made accessible for all with no loss of quality (quite the opposite), with the understanding that difference does not mean less skilled, or "too complicated".
The talk will conclude with time for questions and answers, if you have any particular questions about making your theatre or entertainment more accessible, please bring them and Laura will answer as many as possible.
Please note that Laura’s talk will be recorded. The camera will not record audiences faces but will record voices and questions asked in the room.
