As excitement builds ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the Games’ official mascot, Finnie, will be making a special one-day-only appearance at Buchanan Galleries on Wednesday 15th July.

Finnie is a unicorn imagined by the young people of Glasgow and inspired by Scotland’s national animal. As the official mascot of the Games, her role includes acting as chief hype-master: generating smiles, spreading cheer and getting crowds excited as the city prepares to welcome athletes, visitors and supporters.

Guests are invited to join in the excitement as Glasgow counts down towards another landmark moment on the international sporting stage, with Finnie making a special appearance at the Buchanan Galleries flower wall, next to John Lewis & Partners, on Wednesday 15 July from 12:30pm and 4:30pm.

Finnie will be touring the mall every hour on the half hour, with each appearance lasting 30 minutes, giving families and fans of all ages the chance to meet her in person, capture a keepsake Polaroid photo and enjoy a couple of extra surprises on the day.

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Director at Buchanan Galleries, said, “With the Commonwealth Games returning to Glasgow, there’s already a real buzz across the city. We’re excited to welcome Finnie to Buchanan Galleries, giving families and Games fans the chance to enjoy a fun and memorable moment in the heart of Glasgow ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games - and maybe a surprise or two to celebrate the countdown.”

Glasgow is the third city in history to host the Commonwealth Games twice, with the 11-day event set to bring together 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories in a celebration of sport, community and ambition.

Finnie, the Glasgow 2026 official mascot said: “Hey Glasgow, it’s me Finnie. I’m super excited to meet you!

“The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games are just around the corner, and I can’t wait to see the stands full, the crowds cheering, and I want you to be there. The city is going to come alive for this magical celebration of sport, and of course, I’ll be there to lead the hype!”
